Board of Health schedules public hearing on kratom regulation

Yarmouth Board of Health votes unanimously to hold public hearing on kratom regulation. The vote came after board member Mary Craig presented research on how Rhode Island and other jurisdictions have approached kratom regulation, noting concerns about lack of oversight and synthetic components in products readily available to all ages. Public comment on a proposed nicotine-free generation regulation revealed business opposition, with Attorney David Lawler representing gas stations and local business owners arguing the Town should defer to Commonwealth-level regulation.
