Conservation Commission issues fines and conditional approvals for multiple wetlands violations

YARMOUTH — Conservation Commission issues $300 fine for unpermitted stairs, approves permits with enforcement conditions. Chair David Bernstein, Vice Chair Paul Huggins, and Commissioners Jack Frost, Bradford Bower, Patricia Mulhearn, and Elly Tierney processed 14 coastal wetlands applications on May 7, with several Certificate of Compliance approvals conditioned on removal of unpermitted decks, patios, boats, and benches. The commission continued three permits to May 21, including a Route 28 demolition project and companion compliance filing due to site cleanup and hazardous materials concerns.

Bank stabilization at Scott Peterson's property won approval with bi-annual monitoring reports and trigger points for nourishment at 30 percent coir roll exposure.
