YARMOUTH — Community Preservation Committee heard detailed expert guidance on which projects qualify for Community Preservation Act funding. Stuart Saginor, Executive Director of the Community Preservation Coalition, explained that proposed improvements must align with specific allowable uses under four categories: open space, historic preservation, affordable housing, and recreation. Saginor answered questions about pending applications, including a Cultural Center project where a central air system and irrigation would qualify but newly-created trees and a 2014 deck would not.
For the Community Gardens application, he noted that the land itself must be restricted as recreational or conservation land. The Committee will continue reviewing applications through October, with committee reorganization and elections scheduled for October 21, 2026.
