YARMOUTH — Finance Committee defers final action on D-Y Regional School District FY27 budget. Superintendent Christopher Smith and Business Manager Patricia Gilson presented the adjusted $84.3 million operating budget, up 4.9 percent from FY26 and including proposed $1.4 million in staffing reductions and $621,691 in healthcare savings following a health insurance vote by the Cape Cod Municipal Health Group today. Transportation costs jumped 17 percent to $6.1 million, with 260 homeless students requiring mandatory McKinney-Vento transport obligations.
Committee Chair Richard Simon stated the panel will defer its recommendation vote until after a tri-party meeting on February 25 and the School Committee's final adoption vote by March 13, noting "unknowns" remain. The committee unanimously approved the FY27 Public Works budget for six departments, deferring enterprise budgets for Water, Wastewater, and Septage.
