Finance Committee · Meeting of August 13, 2026

YARMOUTH — The Finance Committee held an informational workshop on municipal budget process and fiscal practices. The joint Finance and Capital Budget Committee workshop presented the town's approach to annual budget development, including revenue sources (property tax levy limited by proposition two and one-half percent, state aid, and local receipts from motor vehicle excise, licensing, and permits) and recurring expenses (salaries, wages, benefits, and debt service). The presentation outlined the budget timeline, with the Select Board adopting budget policy in October, the town manager presenting recommendations by January 1, and the Finance Committee making recommendations to town meeting.

The workshop also covered the capital budget process and highlighted Yarmouth's national award for comprehensive financial reporting.
