Historical Commission plans June 20 monument event, approves archaeology survey timeline

Historical Commission · Meeting of April 9, 2026

YARMOUTH — The Yarmouth Historical Commission advanced planning for a June 20 Revolutionary War Monument dedication. Chair Julie Mockabee and Vice Chair Bob Kelley reported that a site walk mapped traffic, demonstrators, and placement of scouts and militia in the park, with the monument foundation pouring the week of April 20, weather permitting. Members approved a request that archaeology firm PAL add a timeline to its survey proposal and will hold a public outreach meeting May 13 to gather local historical information.

The Commission approved the March 12 minutes on a vote of 3-0-1, with Commissioner David Geanacopoulos abstaining. Staff member Lisa Sherman announced the Judah Baker Windmill will open June 1 with all 2025 docents returning.
