Mattacheese Utilization Committee approves draft report with three site concepts

Mattacheese Utilization Committee · Meeting of May 4, 2026

YARMOUTH — Mattacheese Utilization Committee unanimously approves draft final report with three conceptual design alternatives. The report, prepared by consultant BSC Group, recommends full demolition of the existing former middle school building and proposes three different mixed-use redevelopment scenarios anchored by a 120,000-square-foot indoor sports facility, outdoor athletic fields, and varying residential components. Chair Sharon Wimer requested edits to emphasize the committee's responsiveness to public surveys prioritizing conservation and recreation.

The committee will present the final designs to the Select Board on May 12, 2026, after which market feasibility and grant research will proceed over the next year.
