YARMOUTH — Mattacheese Utilization Committee presents five reuse concepts for former middle school property. Committee Chair Sharon Wimer led the March 11 community forum showcasing five conceptual site plans for the 70-acre site, each pairing a 120,000-square-foot indoor sports facility with 72 to 108 residential units. A survey of 656 residents and July 2025 workshop identified strong support for multi-sport indoor recreation, walking trails, and affordable housing.
The town has secured a $200,000 MassDevelopment Site Readiness Program grant to conduct market analysis, infrastructure studies, and developer engagement over 12–18 months, with Select Board presentation scheduled for April 2026.
