YARMOUTH — Mattacheese Utilization Committee prepares three conceptual site plans for the 70-acre former school property. Chair Sharon Wimer and members John Anderson, Andrew Laird, Lindsay Pietro, Casey Schmidt, and Joe Potzka reviewed updates on a recreation field study, school feasibility analysis, and short-term rental research, then finalized details for a February 25 community meeting featuring the three alternatives. Each plan includes a 120,000-square-foot sports facility with 72 to 108 residential units; a key difference is whether eight acres are reserved for potential M.E.
Small Elementary School relocation if that building program moves forward. The solar array on site generates $175,000 annually and is central to the decision-making timeline. The committee voted unanimously to adjourn, with regular meetings scheduled for March 12 and April 9.
