Personnel Board approves police mechanic reclassification at Grade 10

YARMOUTH — The Yarmouth Personnel Board voted 3-1 to reclassify the Police Mechanic position to Grade 10, responding to a request from Police Mechanic Phil Bleicher and SEIU 888. Deputy Police Chief Drew O'Malley presented the job description, and members agreed to make hybrid vehicle certification "preferred" rather than mandatory, allowing new hires to obtain the credential after employment begins. Vice-Chair Sharon Ladley, Richard Simon, Joellen Cademartori, and Jen Mayo cast votes.
The board deferred approval of October 2025 and executive-session minutes to its next meeting on March 9, 2026.
