Planning Board endorses VCOD setback relief at Annual Town Meeting.

Planning Board · Meeting of April 28, 2026

YARMOUTH — Planning Board supports Route 28 zoning change at annual town meeting. Article 29, moved by Planning Board member Joanne Crowley and explained by Town Planner Kathy Williams, passed by the requisite two-thirds majority, allowing developers to seek relief from Village Centers Overlay District front yard setbacks via Special Permit rather than Variance. The amendment accommodates MassDOT Route 28 streetscape improvements that will require property line takings.

The Planning Board recommended the article unanimously (6-0), as did the Select Board (5-0).
