Planning Board schedules public hearing on Village Centers Overlay zoning amendment

Planning Board · Meeting of February 4, 2026

YARMOUTH — Planning Board schedules March 4 public hearing on Village Centers Overlay zoning amendment. The board unanimously approved modifications to Draft Zoning Article 1, which would allow developers to seek Special Permit relief from maximum front yard setback requirements when projects are affected by MassDOT Route 28 Corridor Improvement land takings. Chair Joanne Crowley directed Town Planner Kathy Williams to refine language referencing multiple MassDOT projects and expand explanation of flexibility for affected developments.

The board also advanced discussion of the UMass Donahue Short-Term Rental Study ahead of its February 24 Select Board presentation, with members noting the board has not yet defined a clear problem requiring STR restrictions or caps.
