Recycling panel advances disposal upgrades, eyes school outreach.
Recycling and Solid Waste Advisory Committee · Meeting of January 14, 2026
Yarmouth's Recycling and Solid Waste Advisory Committee approved prior minutes and advanced disposal improvements. A license plate reader is now operational at the disposal area to verify stickers, and newspaper has been moved to mixed paper compactors to free up dedicated cardboard capacity. Chair Bill Glass encouraged members to attend the MassRecycle conference March 24 and pushed to expand recycling education at the Dennis-Yarmouth School District's Intermediate School.
The committee will request the Selectboard restrict yard waste composting to residents only to comply with Department of Environmental Protection permit requirements; a second hearing on mattress fee increases is scheduled for February 3.
