Yarmouth approves 54.4 million municipal budget with school-funding override

Select Board · Meeting of April 28, 2026

Yarmouth OKs FY27 budget with dual school override at annual meeting. The Select Board and town voters approved a $54.4 million Municipal Budget and authorized $1.48 million and $680,194 in Proposition 2½ overrides to fund the Dennis-Yarmouth Regional School District and Cape Cod Regional Technical High School, respectively. Finance Committee backed both overrides (6-1 on DYRSD; 4-0 on CCRTHS), citing rising labor costs and enrollment shifts.

The town also advanced major capital projects including $2.8 million for septage tank rehabilitation, $1.3 million in Fire Department equipment, and $809,000 in water infrastructure improvements. A library construction project seeking $35.7 million in borrowing drew split backing: Select Board voted 3-2 in favor, but Finance Committee recommended against it 1-4 with two abstentions, citing competing priorities.
