Yarmouth Board of Health approves kratom regulation to take effect April 1

Yarmouth Board of Health unanimously approves kratom prohibition effective April 1. Board Chair Hillard Boskey, M.D., with members Mary Craig, Scott Brewer, and Eric Weston present (Laurance Venezia DVM absent), voted to adopt the regulation prohibiting manufacturing, sale, and distribution of synthetic and naturally derived kratom and other unregulated novel intoxicating products. During the public hearing, resident Tom Nick advocated for resident education before implementation.
The Board also plans to collaborate with the Yarmouth Police Department on Sexual Assault Awareness Month programming in April, including an educational event at Town Hall on April 13.
