Yarmouth Opens Applications for $50,000 Winter Event Grants

YARMOUTH — The town is accepting applications for up to $50,000 in Winter Event Grant funding meant to draw visitors to Yarmouth during the off-season, according to a town announcement, as the Bass Hole/Gray's Beach boardwalk reopened in full and South Yarmouth mourned the death of longtime resident Bette Williams.

TOWN HALL The Town of Yarmouth is offering up to $50,000 in grant funding drawn from its Tourism Revenue Fund to support events staged during the winter months, the town said in an announcement. The program is intended to extend Yarmouth's tourism season beyond the traditional summer months by helping fund events that bring visitors to the Cape Cod town in the colder season.

Separately, the town is looking for volunteer groups willing to "adopt" one of several town islands and help keep them maintained, according to the announcement. Interested groups can contact the town for details on which islands are available.

The town also confirmed the Bass Hole/Gray's Beach boardwalk is now open in its entirety, extending out over the salt marsh, after work on the popular waterfront walkway wrapped up.
