Yarmouth Substance Awareness Committee approved prior-month minutes and heard updates on emerging drug adulterants on Cape Cod. Eliza Morrison of the AIDS Support Group reported that 30 percent of cocaine and 20 percent of methamphetamine in Massachusetts tested positive for fentanyl during 2025, while newer synthetic opioids including nitazenes, xylazine, and medetomidine are appearing with increasing frequency. Tony Boswell of Behavioral Health Network, which arrived on Cape in October 2025 and currently serves 33,000 individuals statewide, described the Hyannis site's methadone treatment for approximately 35 people and openings for leadership partnerships.
The Board of Health's March 2 kratom ban was formally approved with no expected financial impact.
