Yarmouth Conservation Commission approves seawall raise 6-1 over abutter's objection. The commission, chaired by David Bernstein, let Thomas Grimes raise his Surfside Terrace seawall by one foot to 4.9 feet despite arguments from attorney Paul Revere, representing neighbor Mr. Marasco, that the change would worsen erosion by wave reflection in Bass River.
Commissioner Jack Frost pressed the applicant's engineer, Mark Burgess, on "end scour" impacts; Burgess maintained "erosion happens down where the soil is," not at the top of the wall. Commissioners also unanimously approved a redesigned 93-foot wireless monopole at 1044 Route 28 after the Zoning Board sought a less visible tower, and voted 6-1 twice to approve RJ Resorts beach management plans on South Shore Drive with piping plover protections. A boardwalk built without a permit at 61 Pheasant Cove Circle drew sharp criticism from Vice Chair Paul Huggins, who said, "we have to stop forgiving" unpermitted work, before the item was continued to April 16.
