Yarmouth wins $25 million federal grant for Route 28 project
YARMOUTH — The town has been awarded a $25 million federal BUILD grant to help fund major improvements to Route 28, a project shared with Barnstable that carries an estimated total cost of more than $62 million.

The Yarmouth-Barnstable Route 28 Improvements Project got a significant boost this week with news that the town was awarded a $25 million federal BUILD grant. The overall project is estimated to cost $62,413,490, according to the town's News & Events page, and will fund upgrades along the heavily traveled corridor shared by the two towns.
Separately, the Select Board's spotlight recap from its July 21 meeting is available on the town website, continuing the board's practice of summarizing recent business for residents. All States Materials Group is scheduled to perform preventative roadway maintenance, known as chipsealing, on select town roads in 2026, part of ongoing pavement upkeep efforts.
The Cape Cod region remains under a Level 2, or Significant, Drought designation according to the Massachusetts Drought Management Task Force's most recent update posted by the town. Repairs to the Bass Hole/Gray's Beach Boardwalk, which began this summer, are expected to be completed by the end of the season, per a town construction update.
Residents should also note that the Library Construction Article was indefinitely postponed at the June 24 Special Town Meeting, according to the town's meeting summary.
