Capital Panel Elects Peterson Chair, Backs $1.2M Warrant
Capital Planning · Meeting of September 14, 2026
Yarmouth's Capital Budget Committee elects John Peterson chair and lines up $1.2 million for the fall Town Meeting warrant. The panel also named Andrew Laird vice chair and Tom Pendleton secretary, with member Danielle Newton declining the chair role, saying her committee service ends in late October. Staff liaison Amy walked members through four fast-tracked projects: a $550,000 replacement ambulance and three golf course items totaling $650,000, including a $350,000 Bass River bathroom renovation and $250,000 in cart path repairs.
Amy told members the ambulance needs early approval because "it takes 800 days to build," and flagged inconsistent multiyear cost estimates from some town departments, saying a few "were putting everything in year one and nothing in subsequent years." Members then began dividing nine town departments, ranging from 19 open requests at the Department of Public Works to one each at schools and finance, among themselves as budget liaisons for the coming review cycle.
