CPC won't accept late grant applications
Other Committee · Meeting of September 16, 2026
Yarmouth preservation committee won't accept late funding applications. The Community Preservation Committee, chaired by Judy Wilczynski, declined to waive its August 26 deadline, leaving a $100,000 request to resurface the decade-old Peter Homer Park basketball courts stalled until at least spring 2027 town meeting. Finance Director Jennifer said the item was simply missed during a late-starting capital review process.
Members also previewed a $100,000 ask toward a $38 million Harwich affordable-housing project, calling themselves "very cautious" about funding a development with no guaranteed units for Yarmouth residents, and a disputed Catholic Charities homeless-shelter relocation in Hyannis still tied up in Land Court and federal litigation. A $235,000 Follins Pond access-stairs request and a $50,000 invasive-species program also came up for preliminary review. No project funding votes were taken; the committee only formally approved its September 9 minutes.
