Yarmouth Select Board Approves Entertainment Licenses, Swears In Three New Police Officers

Select Board · Meeting of July 7, 2026

Yarmouth Select Board swears in three officers and navigates contested entertainment license hearing at July 7 meeting. Members Mark Forest, Dorcas McGurrin, Joyce Flynn, and Liz Argo — with Chair Tracy Post absent — swore in Officers Polina, Cimino, and Joseph Morrison before approving a series of entertainment and alcohol licenses, including one drawn from a compliance dispute over the Freebird Motor Lodge on Route 28 in West Yarmouth, whose manager Parth Patel acknowledged providing amplified music without a valid license on Memorial Day and Father's Day weekends. The board approved Freebird's license narrowly for Fridays, Saturdays, and the Sunday of Labor Day weekend, 2 to 7 p.m., with acoustic instruments and amplification held to conversational levels; Argo said directly, "We've got somebody that isn't compliant right now already before the year has even begun." The board separately approved full-season entertainment licenses for Patel's Uncommoner Hotel and a special license for a Serial Killer Speakeasy Tours theatrical event at the Cultural Center of Cape Cod on July 9-11.

Town Administrator Bob reported the Trump administration denied FEMA aid for winter storm Hernando damage, even as Governor Healy filed an appeal, and updated the board that all contracts for the Grays Beach boardwalk piling replacement have been awarded and construction is imminent after the project was fully funded without federal help.
