Select Board Declares Blue's Dog a Nuisance
Select Board · Meeting of September 15, 2026
Yarmouth Select Board rules bitten neighbor's dog complaint a nuisance, not dangerous. After nearly two hours of sworn testimony on a July 2025 attack that injured Dr. Michael Weisberg's wife's hand, the board voted 5-0 to find Peter Blue's lab mix, Savannah, a nuisance dog and ordered him to keep a repaired backyard fence rather than add a taller barrier, muzzle the dog or remove it.
Weisberg, a board-certified ER physician, called it "a vicious attack" and said his wife still lacks full use of her thumb. The board also set Yarmouth's fiscal 2027 tax rate at a single $7.28 per $1,000 of valuation, rejecting a residential exemption, and waived $1,800 in rental fees for a 2027 craft fair at Parker's River Landing, charging organizer Patricia Daley only for the event's two main days.
