Route 28 to close at two spots for sewer work next week
The Town of Yarmouth says Route 28 will close in two locations for sewer work the week of Nov. 2, with detours in place, while other road and drainage projects continue around town.
The Town of Yarmouth announced Oct. 30 a wastewater and road work update covering Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., for the week of Nov. 2, 2026.
Route 28 will be closed in two locations. For sewer work at Parker's River Landing, the road will be closed between Parker's River Landing and Courtland Way; drivers are told to use Winslow Gray Road, Forest Road and Long Pond Drive as a detour, and traffic from Dennis heading toward Hyannis or points west of Town Brook Road should take Buck Island Road to Town Brook Road to continue on Route 28 North.
For sewer work near Chase Brook Park (Bellew Tile), Route 28 will be closed at that location. Drivers should use Town Brook Road, Buck Island Road and Higgins Crowell Road as a detour, and traffic from Hyannis heading toward Dennis or points east of Long Pond Drive should stay on Buck Island Road to Winslow Gray Road to Forest Road to continue on Route 28 South.
Water main work on Route 6A will pause for one week, with the contractor returning Nov. 9.
Drainage work tied to the Bass River Bridge Replacement project will continue on Old Main Street, with one-lane alternating traffic maintained. Drainage work will also continue on Follins Pond Road and Gun Rock Road, also with one-lane alternating traffic.
On South Shore Drive near the Red Jacket Resort, drainage work will continue as part of paving in that area; drivers are told to use Pawkannawkut Road to access the resort.
Residents with questions about the Wastewater Project can contact Ryan Chase, assistant wastewater superintendent, at 508-771-7921. Updates are also posted on the Town of Yarmouth Wastewater Construction Project page.
