Yarmouth Zoning Board approves residential lobster sales permit after years of enforcement disputes. The board voted four to one at its May 14 meeting to grant a special permit to John Tawley, represented by attorney Jonathan Poloni of Sunnion Associates, allowing him to sell live lobsters from his home at 23 Iroquois Boulevard in West Yarmouth, hours set at 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. seven days a week from Memorial Day through the end of October. The permit is personal to Tawley and lapses when he discontinues the use, a condition Chair Sean Igoe said was necessary to distinguish it from a permanent commercial right running with the land.
Member Anthony Panebianco cast the lone dissenting vote, calling the operation "a very clearly commercial enterprise" incompatible with a residential zone. The board also unanimously approved a home massage and body work permit for Jennifer Wallace, doing business as Coru Therapies at 21 Azalea Lane, limited to one client at a time, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Saturday, after Wallace narrowed her initial request to drop group sessions, doula services, and late-night hours that had drawn objections from all four other board members.
