Yarmouth Committee Sends Three Mattakeese Redevelopment Plans to Select Board
Other Committee · Meeting of April 16, 2026
Yarmouth's Mattakeese Utilization Committee unanimously forwarded all three concept plans for the former Mattakeese Middle School site to the Select Board ahead of a May 12 presentation. BSC Group consultant Heather Gould presented Alternatives A, B, and C, each combining a 120,000-square-foot sports facility, four multi-use playing fields, and a mix of 66 apartment units, six townhouses, and between five and six single-family homes on Chickadee Lane, with parking estimates ranging from 385 to 480 spaces depending on the layout. The committee voted 6-0 on each plan, also directing Gould to adjust residential parking in Alternative B from 115 to 125 spaces before the board meeting.
A separate 6-0 vote directed that the final report include a reference to the Cape Cod Baseball League as a possible synergy partner for any future sports complex developer. Guest Mike Barry described ongoing efforts to secure Community Preservation Act funding for a second softball field at Sandy Pond, with Recreation Director Steve Reynolds described as supportive of a CPA grant request for the next town meeting cycle.
