Yarmouth Recreation Commission re-elects leadership for new term

YARMOUTH — The Yarmouth Recreation Commission unanimously re-elected Steve Sozanski as chair and Paul Deignan as vice chair, voting 7-0 on the leadership continuation. Assistant Director Nick Norman reported strong summer programming including swim, beach soccer, yoga, tai chi, roller-skating, and sailing, noting that Movies on the Beach was cancelled due to insurance regulations. Public commenter Cara praised Recreation Director Steve Reynolds for re-surfacing Flax Pickleball courts and proposed Phase 2 expansion with awnings and shade structures.
Commissioners discussed future capital projects including expanding pickleball courts, adding a second softball field at Sandy Pond pending Community Preservation Committee approval, repairing a basketball court, installing trail signage, and adding a water station at Flax Pond pickleball courts.
