Yarmouth Planning Board approves two Route 28 housing permits
Planning Board · Meeting of April 1, 2026
Yarmouth Planning Board unanimously approves two Route 28 housing redevelopment permits. The board, with all seven members present, granted a special permit to Huzafia Corporation to add two second-floor apartments above an expanded Becker's Package Store at 49 and 55 Route 28, conditioned on combining three lots, planting buffer trees and installing irrigation. Members also approved a Village Centers Overlay District site plan for "The Residences at Parkers River," a Steven M.
Katz project replacing a former furniture shop at 703 Route 28 with three duplexes totaling six four-bedroom units. Vice Chair Will Rubenstein repeatedly pressed the applicant's team on whether two garage spaces per unit would be enough, saying, "I lived on Cape Cod for 23 years. I see one bedroom houses with five cars parked out front." Both projects still require relief from the Zoning Board of Appeals before construction begins.
