Yarmouth Substance Awareness Committee · Meeting of June 10, 2026
YARMOUTH — Substance committee learns of $52 million county grant opportunity for youth prevention. The Yarmouth Substance Awareness Committee heard from member Kayla Champagne that Barnstable County plans to administer a $52 million grant from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health to support substance abuse prevention and education programming for youth in Yarmouth, Dennis, and Falmouth over five years. The funding targets communities that received insufficient opioid remediation distributions.
The town received a $53,152.11 deposit in FY26 opioid remediation funds, a significant decline from prior years, with $325 remaining from the previous year. The committee unanimously approved its May 2026 meeting minutes and heard a presentation from Vincent English on The Michael English House, an organization supporting job-skill development for individuals reintegrating after incarceration.
