Yarmouth CPC Marks $94 Million in Community Investment, Opens FY27 Application Cycle

Other Committee · Meeting of April 8, 2026

Yarmouth's Community Preservation Committee reported more than $94 million in total community investment since 2005 at its annual public hearing April 8. Committee Chair Judy Wilczynski said local surcharge revenues and state matches have generated more than $44 million, with CPA grants leveraging an additional $50 million in outside funding. The committee is projecting $2.2 million in revenue for fiscal year 2027, reduced by approximately $450,000 for a prior bond obligation.

Town Administrator Robert Rittenauer, speaking as chairman of the Affordable Housing Trust, said the program addresses needs the operating budget cannot reach, warning that "these important needs of the community would be left behind" without it. Town housing administrator Mary Wagan cited a February 2026 UMass Dartmouth study finding Yarmouth's median home sale price exceeds $560,000 and that two-thirds of renters carry a housing cost burden. To date, the program has helped create or preserve more than 298 affordable housing units and 75 acres of protected open space.

Applications for the next funding cycle are due in September.
